Gli artisti del Festival da Papa Francesco alla vigilia del loro debutto a Latina.
Questa mattina, una folta delegazione del "Festival Internazionale del Circo - Città di Latina" si è recata in Vaticano per partecipare alla tradizionale Udienza Generale del Santo Padre. Alcune decine di artisti, guidati dalla Signora Mirella Iuliano Montico, hanno raggiunto Papa Francesco indossando i costumi ed il trucco di scena: un segno di omaggio e rispetto nei confronti del Papa ed, al tempo stesso, l'opportunità per presentare al Santo Padre la bella dimensione interculturale ed inter-religiosa del Circo. La Chiesa Cattolica, dal suo canto, ha rinnovato la propria vicinanza agli artisti convenuti a Latina da 21 diversi Paesi del mondo: parole di saluto sono state loro indirizzate dal Cardinale Antonio Maria Vegliò, Presidente del Pontificio Consiglio per i migranti, e da Mons. Giancarlo Perego, Direttore della Fondazione Migrantes della Conferenza Episcopale Italiana. L'incontro con Papa Francesco avviene alla vigilia del debutto della sedicesima edizione del "Festival Internazionale del Circo - Città di Latina": il primo spettacolo, infatti, è fissato per le ore 21 di domani, Giovedì 16 Ottobre, in via Rossetti a Latina.

Performers travel to Rome to meet Pope Francis the day before the début of the Festival at Latina.
This morning a large delegation travelled to the Vatican from the ‘International Circus Festival – City of Latina’ to take part in the weekly General Audience held by His Holiness the Pope. Accompanied by Mirella Iuliano, many of the performers went to meet the Pope wearing their stage costumes and make-up: this visit was a gesture of respect towards the Pope but also an opportunity to demonstrate the wonderful intercultural and interreligious aspects of the Circus to the Holy Father. The Catholic Church, in the same spirit of fellowship, showed its friendship to the performers who have come to Latina from 21 different nations: greetings were made specifically to the artists of the Festival by Cardinal Carlo Maria Vegliò, President of the Pontifical Counsel for migrants, and by Monsignor Giancarlo Perego, Director of the Migrantes Foundation of the Italian Episcopal Conference. This meeting with Pope Francis came on the vigil of the début show of the ‘International Circus Festival – City of Latina’: the first show will take place tomorrow evening, Thursday, October 16th at 9pm in Via Rossetti, Latina.
