Si celebra oggi nei cinque continenti la magia del più grande spettacolo del mondo: sono tantissimi i Paesi che hanno accolto e sostenuto con entusiasmo la giornata promossa dalla Federazione Mondiale del Circo. Il mondo del Circo da sempre affascina grandi e piccini: la sua magia, le atmosfere che è capace di evocare, le emozioni che suscita, lo rendono decisamente uno spettacolo straordinario. “Assistere ad uno spettacolo di Circo – afferma Fabio Montico, Presidente dell’Associazione Culturale “Giulio Montico” – è come entrare in un mondo incantato: il Circo offre ai suoi spettatori la possibilità di vivere una fiaba nel ruolo di protagonista”. Eppure questo stesso mondo è spesso al centro dell’attenzione per una serie di pregiudizi che ne offuscano le sue connotazioni artistiche e culturali: “la presenza degli animali nel Circo – prosegue Montico – è spesso un nodo cruciale: di fatto nel Circo tradizionale gli animali rappresentano un caposaldo. Sempre più spesso il rapporto più efficace che si stabilisce tra l’animale ed il suo addestratore è un rapporto basato sulla fiducia reciproca, ben lungi da ogni forma di coercizione o maltrattamento spesso evocati dai detrattori più ostinati”. In tal senso la prima giornata mondiale del Circo, promossa dalla Federazione Mondiale del Circo presieduta dalla Principessa Stephanie di Monaco, e celebrata oggi, 17 Aprile 2010 in tutti i Paesi del mondo, rappresenta una straordinaria opportunità affinché tutti possano accostarsi al Circo; Fabio Montico conferma: “questa giornata per i più riluttanti è l’occasione per incontrare un mondo che non conoscono appieno; per tutti gli amici del Circo, invece, è l’occasione per confermare la propria amicizia per il magico mondo”. Numerose sono le iniziative proposte dai circhi italiani: segnaliamo nelle ore del mattino di oggi la possibilità di accedere, gratuitamente, alle prove, ai parchi zoologici itineranti, al backstage dei maggiori Circhi italiani tra i quali il Circo “Moira Orfei” a La Spezia, il “Medrano” a Trieste ed il Circo “Lidia Togni” a Cassino (FR). XII International Circus Festival “City of Latina” Latina, 14th-18th October 2010 www.festivalcircolatina.com Press release n. 5 - 17th April 2010 17th April 2010: First World Circus Day Today the magic of the 'Greatest Show on Earth' is being celebrated in all five continents: lots of countries have enthusiastically adhered to World Circus Association’s initiative of promoting a World Circus Day. The world of the circus has always attracted people of all ages: the magic, the atmosphere that it evokes, and the emotions it brings out in people are what makes it such a unique and extraordinary experience. "Watching a circus show", says Fabio Montico, President of the 'Giulio Montico' Cultural Association, "is like entering an enchanted world: the circus gives its public a first-hand taste of being a part of a fairy tale". And yet this same world is often the centre of attention because of prejudices that sometimes almost force the real artistic and musical merits of the circus into the background. "The presence of animals in the circus", continues Montico, "is frequently a sore point, but historically, in the traditional circus, animals have always played a big part. Nowadays the relationship between trainer and animal is very much based on reciprocal trust and respect, contrary to any form of abuse or ill treatment that many detractors would like to think still exists". In this spirit, this first World Circus Day, promoted by the World Circus Association, will be celebrated, on April 17th 2010 in countries all over the world. This day represents an extraordinary opportunity for everyone to get to know the real world of the circus of today. Fabio Montico adds,"the World Circus Day is an occasion for the more reluctant to meet and get to know a world with which they are not familiar, while for the many confirmed circus fans it's an occasion for celebrating and confirming their friendship with the magical world of the circus". There are numerous initiatives proposed by various Italian circuses: it will be possible to be present, at no cost, during rehearsals and backstage at some of the most important travelling Italian circuses, including the "Moira Orfei" circus at La Spezia, the "Medrano" circus at Trieste and the "Lidia Togni" circus at Cassino (FR).
