Countdown: - 2 giorni al Festival
A soli due giorni dall’attesissimo debutto del Festival, giungono a Latina il Patrocinio del Ministero degli Esteri della Repubblica Italiana ed il messaggio del Ministro russo per la Cultura, Vladimir Medinskiy. Giungono saluti e cenni augurali anche dal Sindaco di Latina, Dott. Damiano Coletta, dai vertici dell’Ente Nazionale Circhi e delle Istituzioni religiose. Agli artisti ed agli operatori di settore giunti a Latina dai 5 continenti il messaggio di benvenuto del Direttore del Festival, Fabio Montico.
A seguire, alcuni stralci dei messaggi di saluto e di augurio giunti a Latina alla vigilia del debutto della 18^ edizione dell’International Circus Festival of Italy.
Vladimir Medinskiy, Ministro della Cultura della Federazione Russa. Cari Amici! Desidero indirizzare il mio saluto agli organizzatori, i partecipanti e gli ospiti del 18° International Circus Festival of Italy. Sono certo che questo progetto che vede insieme la Compagnia di Stato di Circo della Russia “Rosgoscirk” e l’Associazione Culturale “Giulio Montico” farà nascere nuove stelle del Circo e si porrà come opportunità per lo scambio e la condivisione di esperienze nel settore. Mi auguro che questa circostanza possa aprire nuove strade al dialogo tra la Russia e l’Italia, così come auspico che possa contribuire ad incrementare le relazioni internazionali. Tanti auguri agli organizzatori: vi auguro di conseguire i vostri obiettivi. Ai partecipanti: possiate avere successo. Agli ospiti: vi auguro di godere pienamente di momenti indimenticabili.
Damiano Coletta, Sindaco di Latina Quando penso al Festival Internazionale del Circo mi viene in mente la cittadella allestita in Via Rossetti che per una settimana diventa una grande Piazza delle Arti, popolata da artisti giunti da continenti diversi, che lavorano a ritmo serrato per provare gli spettacoli. Questa rassegna, tra le più prestigiose e seguite nel mondo, è un’occasione per dare un segnale di accoglienza e di disponibilità all’incontro multiculturale. Perché il Circo è motivo e luogo di incontro tra culture diverse; Babilonia di lingue, arti, religioni, tradizioni. Latina ospita la XVIII edizione del Festival dando seguito ad una tradizione iniziata nel 1999. L’evento ha contribuito negli anni a promuovere e far conoscere il nostro territorio e l’intera provincia, richiamando tante persone che approfittano della manifestazione per visitare la nostra città e scoprire un territorio ricco di storia e risorse. […] Queste premesse per augurare all’intera macchina organizzativa del Festival Internazionale del Circo – Città di Latina - agli artisti, ai giurati, agli operatori del settore che arriveranno in città per la kermesse – che questa nuova esperienza possa essere sì l’occasione per rappresentare pregevoli esibizioni, ma anche e soprattutto un momento di integrazione e di sano confronto. 
Sua Eminenza il Cardinale Antonio Maria Vegliò, Presidente del Pontificio Consiglio della Pastorale per i Migranti e gli Itineranti Egregio Signor Presidente, Cari Partecipanti, ho il piacere di porgere un cordiale e fraterno saluto agli Organizzatori e ai partecipanti all’International Circus Festival of Italy di Latina. […] Il Papa ha detto che "voi fate grandi cose! Voi siete “artigiani" della festa, della meraviglia; siete artigiani del bello", indicando che sono queste le qualità con cui “arricchite la società di tutto il mondo, anche con l'ambizione di alimentare sentimenti di speranza e fiducia". Inoltre, il Pontefice ha sottolineato una vostra speciale risorsa quando ha dichiarato che “con i vostri continui spostamenti, potete portare e potete essere comunità cristiana itinerante, testimoni di Cristo che sempre è in cammino per incontrare anche i più lontani”. Infatti, anche con questo Festival voi create la giusta occasione per promuovere la cultura dell’accoglienza che permette di far incontrare, nell’unità, diverse culture e religioni, portando all’apprezzamento dei valori autenticamente umani dell’altro. […] Mentre auguro pieno successo a questa iniziativa, invoco la benedizione divina sulle vostre comunità e le vostre famiglie! 
Antonio Buccioni, Presidente Ente Nazionale Circhi Scrivevo nel mio saluto dello scorso anno che più passa il tempo e più cresce l'importanza del Festival, che sprigiona e incrementa le sue qualità via via che aumenta il numero delle edizioni, collocandosi in un arco di tempo così breve al vertice delle rassegne internazionali del Circo. L'edizione 2016 sarà quella di un compleanno speciale per il Festival di Latina che quest'anno compie 18 anni. E' un traguardo importante, direi storico. Il panorama italiano, europeo e mondiale, nel quale s'inscrive questo Festival, non è dei più incoraggianti. E non mi riferisco solo alle difficoltà crescenti, a livello europeo, nelle quali deve svolgersi l'antica arte della pista di segatura: mancanza di aree nelle quali attendarsi, ostracismo da parte delle amministrazioni pubbliche, burocrazia e divieti agli spettacoli con animali. Ma più in generale penso al preoccupante contesto sociale, culturale ed economico, ai conflitti, alle minacce alla sicurezza, all'odio e alle divisioni, alla morte e alla distruzione provocati dal recente terremoto. […] Il Festival di Latina […] offre ragioni per sperare nel futuro della secolare tradizione artistica del circo, innervata dalla creatività, dalla passione e dalla professionalità della gente del circo italiano. Lunga vita al Festival, dunque, eccellenza italiana nel mondo, e alla Associazione Culturale “Giulio Montico” che ne è l'anima e il motore.
Fabio Montico, Direttore Generale dell’International Circus Festival of Italy Era il 18 Dicembre del 1999, 67° anniversario della fondazione della Città di Latina; a pochi passi dal centro del capoluogo pontino si issava il tendone che per la prima volta avrebbe ospitato il “Festival Internazionale delle Arti Circensi – Città di Latina”. Da quel lontano giorno del ’99 sono passati 18 anni: un tempo lunghissimo durante il quale, di anno in anno, si sono succedute ben 18 edizioni di una manifestazione che, nata quasi timidamente dalla caparbietà e dall’amore che mio padre provava per il Circo e per “la sua gente”, si è andata affermando sempre più in Europa e nel mondo. Oggi, con buona ragione, possiamo affermare che nel mese di Ottobre, Latina diviene una sorta di centro gravitazionale attorno al quale orbita il meglio della produzione circense con tutto il suo carico di implicazioni culturali che vedono trasformare lo Chapiteau dell’International Circus Festival of Italy in un luogo privilegiato ove le Arti si incontrano e si contaminano, ove si vive all’insegna del dialogo interculturale ed inter-religioso. Il Festival compie 18 anni, raggiunge dunque “la maggiore età”; è maturo, strutturato, forte di una serie di sinergie che spontaneamente, e progressivamente si sono stabilite nel tempo come è ovvio che sia allorchè si intenda produrre un evento di caratura e visibilità internazionali. Quest’anno in modo particolare, l’amicizia suggellata con la Russia, e nella fattispecie con il glorioso Rosgoscirk, ha reso possibile lo svolgimento di un’edizione resa complessa, non lo nascondiamo, da tutta una serie di situazioni ostative. […] Tuttavia perseveriamo nella certezza che il Circo di qualità, oggi più che mai, possa continuare ad offrire opportunità di divertimento e di svago a quanti se ne lasciano ammaliare, e ci confermiamo nell’atteggiamento di assoluta apertura al dialogo con quanti, per i motivi più diversi, conoscessero poco o per niente questo mondo, o addirittura ne conoscessero solo le tante distorte descrizioni che certa “cronaca” riferisce. È in tal senso che, a nome di tutta l’Associazione Culturale “Giulio Montico”, rinnovando il ringraziamento a quanti, a vario titolo, hanno contribuito alla produzione di questa diciottesima edizione, ed in particolare ai nostri gold e silver partner, desidero porgere il mio saluto più cordiale agli artisti, agli special guest, ai membri delle giurie, ed a ciascuno degli spettatori. A tutti voi... buon Festival! (Con buona pace dei detrattori!).

Countdown: - 2 days to the Festival
With just two days to go until the start of the Festival, we have received the patronage of the Italian Foreign Ministry and of the Republic of Italy, and a greeting from the Russian Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinskiy. We have also received greetings from the Mayor of Latina, Dr. Damiano Coletta, and from the heads of the National Circus Association and Religious bodies. Fabio Montico, Director of the Festival, also extends a welcome message to the performers arriving from all five continents.
Below are some extracts from the many greetings that have reached Latina on the eve of the dèbut of the 18th edition of the International Circus Festival of Latina.

Dear Friends! I want to send this greeting to the organizers, participants, and guests of the 18th International Circus Festival of Italy. I’m sure that this joint project between the Russian State Circus Company ‘Rosgoscirk’ and the ‘Giulio Montico Cultural Organization’ will launch new circus stars and provide a centre for sharing professional experiences. I hope that this joint effort will open new avenues of dialogue between Russia and Italy, as well as bringing international relationships to a new level. My best wishes go to the organizers: may they achieve their aims. To the participants: may they have success. To the guests: may they enjoy many unforgettable moments.

When I think about the International Circus Festival, my mind always goes to the hub in Via Rossetti that becomes, for a week, a huge Arts Centre, populated by performers from all over the world who work around the clock to rehearse their shows. This event, which is one of the world’s most admired and followed, is an opportunity to demonstrate hospitality and willingness towards multiculturalism, because the Circus is a motive and a meeting place for different cultures; a Babylon of languages, arts, religions, and traditions. Latina hosts the 18th edition of the Festival following a tradition started in 1999. Over the years, this event has contributed to promoting and creating visibility for this area and for the entire province, reaching lots of people who, while visiting here for the Festival, also visit our city and discover an area full of history and resources […] With this introduction I would like to send my greetings, to the entire organisational team of the International Circus Festival – City of Latina, and to the performers, the judges, and the technical crews that arrive here for this event, in the hope that this new experience will not only be an occasion for wonderful performances, but above all a moment for healthy cooperation and integration.

Dear President, dear participants, It is with great pleasure that I send my warm and brotherly greetings to the organisers and participants of the International Circus Festival at Latina. […] The Pope said, “You do great things! You are ‘artisans’ of celebrations and wonder; you are artisans of beauty”, indicating that these are the qualities with which you, “Enrich society all around the world, as well as striving to encourage feelings of hope and trust”. The Pope also underlined another quality of itinerant workers, saying, “With your frequent travels, you can carry the testimony of the word of Christ far and wide as an itinerant Christian community”. In fact, with this Festival you create the right occasion for the promotion of a spirit of welcoming, which in turn allows people of different cultures and religions to meet, bringing appreciation of each other’s human values.[…] I send my best wishes for every success in this event, and invoke Divine Blessings on your communities and your families!

In my greeting last year, I wrote that as times passes, the Festival keeps growing in importance, and that its qualities continue to improve as the number of editions increase, reaching the highest echelons of international Circus events in a very short space of time. The 2016 edition will mark a special moment for the Festival, as it celebrates its 18th birthday. It is an important, historical achievement. The Italian, European, and world scenario in which this Festival takes place is not amongst the most encouraging, and I refer not only to the growing difficulties, on a European level, that the circus world faces: the lack of public spaces, ostracism by public administration, bureaucracy, and bans on shows with animals: more generally, I think about the worrying cultural, economic and social situation of our society, about conflicts, threats to our safety, about hate and discord, and about the death and destruction caused by the recent earthquake [...] The Festival at Latina helps lead us […] offering us a reason for having hope in the future through the centuries-old artistic traditions of the circus, motivated by the creativity, passion and professionalism of Italian circus people. Long life to the Festival, a world-level example of Italian excellence, and also to the ‘Giulio Montico’ Cultural Association, which is its heart and soul.

On December 18th, 1999, the 67th anniversary of the founding of the City of Latina, the big top that would be hosting the ‘International Festival of Circus Arts – City of Latina’ was being raised for the first time a short distance from the centre of town. Many years have passed since that day long ago in ‘99: since then there have been 18 consecutive editions of an event that started quietly through my father’s love of the Circus and ‘his people’, but its standing has grown steadily, not only in Europe, but also in the rest of the world. Today we can justifiably claim that Latina, each October, becomes a sort of hub for the best of circus production, where the big top of the International Circus Festival of Italy is transformed into a special place where different arts meet, and where different cultures and religions are at home. The Festival is 18 years old, and has therefore reached maturity, with a sound structure in place, the result of time, experience and the combined effort that is necessary to produce a top-quality event of such international prominence. This year, in particular, our partnership with Russia in the form of the celebrated Rosgoscirk has allowed us to prepare a special edition, although not without some difficulty. […] Nevertheless, we will persevere in our efforts, with the certainty that now, more than ever, quality Circus will continue to offer amusement and fun to whoever lets themselves be enchanted by it. We are also open to dialogue with anyone who, for whatever reason, doesn’t know this world very well, or who has only heard the distorted descriptions that get distributed by certain members of the press and other media. In this spirit, and on behalf of everyone at the ‘Giulio Montico Cultural Association’, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed, in whatever manner, towards the production of this eighteenth edition, with a special thanks to our gold and silver partners.
