L’edizione 2016 dell’International Circus Festival of Italy debutterà a Latina tra una settimana; le luci della cittadella del Circo torneranno ad illuminare la pista del Festival in occasione della “prima” prevista per le ore 21.00 di Giovedì 13 Ottobre in via Rossetti, nell’area del mercato settimanale. La città di Latina si appresta a divenire per qualche giorno capitale mondiale delle Arti circensi. Le imponenti strutture che ospiteranno il Festival sono già allestite: una superficie di oltre 4.000 m² è stata trasformata in una delle più grandi cittadelle del Circo a livello internazionale. Quest’anno la produzione è italo-russa: da una parte l’Associazione Culturale “Giulio Montico”, da 18 anni alla guida della kermesse circense, dall’altra il Rosgoscirk, celeberrima compagnia statale russa per lo spettacolo circense. Tale circostanza, unita alla preziosa amicizia tra il Festival di Latina ed il Royal Circus del regista e produttore russo Gia Eradze, “Gold Partner” del Festival, ha garantito alla imminente 18ª edizione la partecipazione di quanto di meglio vi sia in Russia in fatto di allestimenti per il Circo e lo spettacolo dal vivo; con Eradze, infatti, giungeranno a Latina quasi 100 persone tra artisti, ballerine, tecnici ed operatori specializzati: una piccola comunità che intende presentare alla platea internazionale del Festival il forte impatto emozionale del Circo tradizionale russo anche quando, declinato in chiave moderna, riesce a coniugare efficacemente Circo, Danza, Musica e Teatro. Appare oggi esplicito, dunque, l’invito all’incontro fra popoli, nazioni e culture differenti che la pittrice Elena Zaïka ha così brillantemente rappresentato nel suo pregevole lavoro su tela adottato quale “visual” ufficiale della 18ª edizione dell’International Circus Festival of Italy. Spettacoli da non perdere dunque; di seguito il calendario completo delle 7 rappresentazioni in cartellone: Giovedì 13 Ottobre ore 21 (spettacolo A); Venerdì 14 Ottobre ore 21 (spettacolo B); Sabato 15 Ottobre ore 16.30 (spettacolo B) e ore 21.00 (spettacolo A); Domenica 16 Ottobre ore 15.30 (spettacolo A) e ore 19.00 (spettacolo B); Lunedì 17 Ottobre ore 20.30, Spettacolo di Gala e premiazione dei vincitori. Gli spettacoli denominati A e B, pur essendo diversi, sono di identico ed elevatissimo livello dal punto di vista artistico e corrispondono esclusivamente alla ripartizione degli artisti in gara in due gruppi. Gli “Special Guest”, i Fratelli Pellegrini e Vinicio Canestrelli Togni, saranno presenti in tutti gli spettacoli.

Il numero di “gighitti” è un classico della tradizione cosacca ed è la rappresentazione dell’ancestrale amicizia tra uomo e cavallo. Rustam Gazzaev è leader della formazione russa che ha la peculiarità di essere composta da sole donne. La rapidità dell’esecuzione è una delle connotazioni più rilevanti della performance presentata da 10 giovani amazzoni con i loro 10 cavalli. L’incontro tra Circo ed altre forme di spettacolo dal vivo è qui realizzata grazie alla perfetta integrazione tra arditi passaggi acrobatici che si alternano con la leggiadria del corpo di ballo. L’esibizione reca la firma di Gia Eradze, artista e produttore, nonché leader del celeberrimo “Royal Circus of Gia Eradze”, Gold Partner della 18ª edizione del Festival. Eradze nel 2013 è stato premiato dal Ministro per la Cultura della Russia per il lavoro profuso al fine di promuovere le arti circensi.

Andrei Tsaplin ha ideato un vero e proprio florilegio dell’Arte nel suo allestimento per il Festival di Latina: un ragazzo, solo e rassegnato, sembra dibattersi tra sogno e realtà alla ricerca di complicati equilibri in una cornice surreale; un pianoforte di cristallo ed una fontana gli fanno compagnia fino a quando sarà l’amore a conferire slancio e verticalità alla sua esistenza; Marat e Diliara Bikmaev spiccano il volo consegnando la loro sorte al candore dei bianchi tessuti ai quali si affidano. Grazia e delicatezza sono qui suggellate anche dalla partecipazione del balletto classico che bene si integra con i numeri di equlibrismo e di tessuti aerei. Eradze è autore, produttore e direttore del blasonato show circense “Five Continents” che, nel 2011, è stato premiato in Russia come “Show del 21º secolo”.

La Troupe Filinov consiste di 8 giovani artisti provenienti dalla Russia. Presentano un numero di altalena russa, una delle più pericolose e spettacolari discipline del Circo in ambito acrobatico. Due altalene, poste una di fronte all’altra, sono, al tempo stesso, pedane di lancio e piste d’atterraggio per gli artisti russi che, con apparente disinvoltura, descrivono traiettorie aeree audaci ed  imprevedibili in un crescendo di pathos e di tensione emotiva. Il leader della troupe, Mikhail Filinov, ha creato un allestimento del tutto nuovo per il Festival di Latina e si è proposto di raggiungere il massimo livello di difficoltà per questa disciplina: sono previsti doppi e tripli salti mortali al passaggio da un’altalena all’altra senza cavo di sicurezza. Una giovanissima acrobata impreziosisce la performance che si conclude con un inedito e sorprendente “doppio passaggio”. Eradze nel 2010 ha conseguito il titolo di “accademico” presso l’Accademia di Stato del Circo in Russia in ragione dei suoi meriti per la promozione del Circo e della sua tradizione.

La tradizione del Circo riconosce un ruolo centrale ai clown ed alla loro comicità. Quest’anno il Festival di Latina assegna il compito di regalare sorrisi ai Clown Prosvirnin. Sergey Prosvirnin, russo, dopo aver completato la sua formazione artistica presso un college statale per le arti ed il varietà, ha da sempre manifestato la propria attitudine per le performance dei cosiddetti “clown musicali”; proprio questa disciplina gli ha fatto conseguire numerosi premi e riconoscimenti in ambito internazionale: fra questi ricordiamo, nel 1997, il premio assegnatogli a Monte-Carlo per l’intelligenza creativa. Sergey è ideatore di tutte le sue esibizioni e, con il suo umorismo, ha già fatto il giro del mondo. L’esibizione reca la firma del Rosgoscirk, co-produttore della 18ª edizione del Festival.

Countdown: - 7 days to the Festival

Today we announce the final 4 numbers of the competing cast of the upcoming 18^th edition of the Festival: led by eminent director and producer Gia Eradze, the Russian contingent of the Festival is formidable.

The 2016 edition of the International Circus Festival of Italy débuts in Latina in a week’s time; the spotlights will be turned on for the ‘première’ at 9pm on Thursday, October 13 in Via Rossetti, site of Latina’s big weekly market. The City of Latina will once again be capital of the Circus world for a few days. The structures that host the event are already in place: an area of over 4,000 sq. m. has been transformed into one of the world’s largest Circus venues. The production team this year is both Italian and Russian: the Italian ‘Giulio Montico Cultural Association’ which has run the event for the last 18 years, and the renowned Russian state circus company Rosgoscirk. This union, along with the ‘Gold Partner’ of the Latina Festival, the Royal Circus with its director and producer Gia Eradze, will guarantee that this 18^th edition of the Festival will also include the absolute best of Russian Circus and live performance arts; Gia Eradze will be bringing almost 100 people to Italy, including performers, dancers, and technical and specialist staff: a small army that will be demonstrating the strong traditions of Russian Circus, combining Circus, Dance, Music, and Theatre in thrilling state-of-the-art performances. Our annual invitation for encounter between different countries, peoples, and cultures is superbly represented by painter Elena Zaïka’s work of art representing this year’s 18^th edition of the International Circus Festival of Italy. Show times as follows (9 shows in all): Thursday, October 13 October – 10.00 (matinée) and 21.00 (show A), Friday, October 14 – 10.00 (matinée) and 21.00 (show B), Saturday, October 15 - 16.30 (show B) and 21.00 (show A), Sunday, October 16 - 15.30 (show A) and 19.00 (show B), Monday, October 17 - 20.30, Gala Show and Awards Ceremony. The shows ‘A’ and ‘B’ are both different, but of the same high quality as regards artistic skill and technical prowess. There are two shows because of the number of performers in the competition. The ‘Special Guests’ of the Festival, the Pellegrini Brothers and Vinicio Canestrelli Togni, will be appearing in all shows.

The ancestral union and friendship between man and horse is represented by a classic Cossack Jigitovka number. Rustam Gazzaev is leader of this Russian group, which is unusually composed of a female-only troupe. Dazzling speed is one of the most important elements of this performance by 10 young horsewomen and their 10 horses. The fusion of Circus and live performance is epitomised here by the contrast of the acrobatics of the riders and the grace of the dancers. This number is the work of Gia Eradze: a performer and producer, Eradze is also head of the renowned ‘Royal Circus of Gia Eradze’, a Gold Partner of the 18^th edition of the Festival. Eradze’s untiring work in promoting Circus arts was rewarded with an award from the Russian Minister of Culture in 2013.

Andrei Tsaplin has prepared a real anthology of arts in his creation for the Festival at Latina: a young man, alone and resigned, seems to fluctuate between dreams and reality in his search for equilibrium in a surreal setting; a crystal piano and a fountain are his only companions until love offers him an escape. Marat and Diliara Bikmaev take flight in a swathe of pure white, as classical ballet dancers enhance this hand balance and aerial silks performance. This is a Gia Eradze number: a performer and producer, Eradze is head of the ‘Royal Circus of Gia Eradze’, which is a Gold Partner of the 18^th edition of the Festival. Eradze is also the creator, producer and director of the circus show ‘Five Continents’, which was awarded a prize as ‘Show of the 21^st Century’ in 2011.

Troupe Filinov is composed of 8 young performers from Russia. They are presenting a Russian swing number, one of the most dangerous and spectacular disciplines in the acrobatic Circus repertoire. Two swings, opposite each other, become platforms and landing pads for the performers, who execute aerial acrobatics, with apparent ease, from swing to swing in an atmosphere of increasing excitement. The leader of the troupe, Mikhail Filinov, has created a completely new act for the Festival, aiming for the maximum effect with double and triple back somersaults between swings, with no safety wires. A very young performer concludes the performance with an inventive ‘double crossover’. This is a Gia Eradze number: a performer and producer, Eradze is head of the celebrated ‘Royal Circus of Gia Eradze’, which is a Gold Partner of the 18^th edition of the Festival. The Russian State Circus Academy recognised Eradze as an ‘Academic’ by merit in 2010 for his promotion of the Circus and its traditions.

Clowns hold a special role in the traditions of the Circus: this year the Festival at Latina has given the job of making people laugh to Clown Prosvirnin. Sergey Prosvirnin, from Russia, trained in a state college for arts and variety, and has always been interested in ‘musical clowns’. This style of clowning has won him numerous international awards and prizes, amongst which an award for intelligent creativity at Monte-Carlo in 1997. Sergey creates all his own performances and has travelled the world with his comedy. This is a Rosgoscirk number, co-producer of this 18^th edition of the Festival.
