Ákos Biritz è un giovane artista proveniente dall’Ungheria. Ha studiato per otto anni presso la “Imre Baross Circus Arts Scholl” a Budapest e successivamente ha fatto parte di una compagnia ungherese di Circo contemporaneo. Al Festival di Latina Ákos presenta un numero di “cinghie aeree”, una disciplina nella quale le evoluzioni dell’acrobata fanno affidamento al supporto offerto da lunghe cinghie sospese alla sommità dello Chapiteau. Con la sua esibizione, Ákos Biritz si propone di comunicare che, in qualche modo, anche agli uomini è dato di volare; un invito ed uno sprone ad esercitare quella forza di volontà che, talora, può rendere possibili anche le imprese più ardue.

Acro duo Rustam & Sabina è il sodalizio artistico di due giovani acrobati provenienti dalla Repubblica dell’Uzbekistan, nell’Asia centrale. Sabina, in particolare, è tra i più giovani artisti presenti alla competizione di quest’anno; il suo debutto in pista risale al 2011 quando intraprese la carriera negli USA. Rustam, per contro, vanta una già lunga esperienza artistica, avviata fin dal 1998 dopo un percorso di formazione atletica. Rustam e Sabina presentano un classico dell’acrobatica circense, il “mano a mano”: audacia, vigore fisico e potenza muscolare sono qui declinati in modo originale in ragione della presenza femminile, circostanza poco comune in questa disciplina.

Viktor e Mariana sono i due artisti del Duo Viola. Partecipano al Festival in rappresentanza di due nazioni: l’Ucraina e la Russia. Viktor, nato a Kiev, ha frequentato la Scuola di Circo della capitale ucraina e si esibisce come artista circense dal 1983. Mariana, nata a Mosca, ha alle spalle un’importante formazione come musicista conseguita a Berlino, ha debuttato come artista nel 1996 fino a divenire nel 2005 membro dell’Orchestra del “Deutsche Oper Berlin”. L’efficace contaminazione tra le competenze musicali di Mariana e le doti circensi di Viktor ha prodotto “Melody of Balance”: una performance nella quale i complessi equilibri tra gli innumerevoli archi della viola di Mariana si propongono come rappresentazione e metafora dell’amore e della vita nella loro sublime bellezza ma anche nella loro fragilità.

Nata in Ungheria nel ’96, il giovane Benedikt, in arte Bence, può già vantare una ricca preparazione avendo maturato competenze da ginnasta, danzatore ed acrobata. Al suo debutto nel mondo del Circo, Bence si esibì con l’hula hoop. A Latina presenta un numero di “tessuti al cerchio aereo” dal titolo “Jekyll and Hyde”: ispirato dal celebre romanzo di Stevenson, Bence intende presentare in chiave circense l’antitesi tra il bene ed il male. Non a caso la colonna sonora del numero è “Ange et Démon” di Maxime Rodriguez. La performance, è stata creata nel 2015 con la collaborazione di Jeugeniy Zakharchenko.

Countdown: - 85 days to the Festival

The real countdown starts: names of this year’s first four competing performers revealed today.

The Festival’s production office continues the tradition of announcing names of cast members for the upcoming 18^th edition of the event. The first four names come from Hungary, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Russia to represent their respective countries at the Festival in Latina.

Ákos Biritz is a young performer from Hungary. He studied at the ‘Imre Baross Circus Arts School’ in Budapest for 8 years, after which he began working with a Hungarian contemporary Circus company. Ákos is presenting an ‘aerial straps’ number at Latina: a discipline in which the performer executes acrobatics while suspended from the height of the big top by two long straps. With his assured and strong performance, Ákos shows us that humans can fly, demonstrating that even the hardest feats are possible.

Acro duo Rustam & Sabina is the partnership of two performers from Uzbekistan, in central Asia. Sabina is one of the youngest performers in this year’s competition; her Circus début was in 2011 in the USA. Rustam, on the other hand, has already had a long artistic career, starting in 1998 following training in athletics. Rustam and Sabrina are presenting the classic acrobatic Circus art of ‘hand to hand’, which requires strength, courage, and control; in this instance with a male and a female performer, which is unusual for this type of discipline.

Viktor e Mariana are two artists performing as Duo Viola. They represent two Nations at Latina: Ukraine and Russia. Viktor was born in Kiev, trained at the Kiev Circus School, and has been performing since 1983. Marianna was born in Moscow, and trained as a musician in Berlin, débuting as a performer in 1996 and becoming a member of the ‘Deutsche Oper Berlin’ orchestra in 2005. The fusion of Marianna’s instrumental talent and Viktor’s Circus skills has produced ‘Melody of Balance’: a performance that effectively combines acrobatic balances and musical virtuosity to represent a metaphor of love for life, in all its beauty and fragility.

Born in Hungary in 1996, young performer Benedikt, whose stage name is Bence, already has an impressive background in gymnastics, dance, and acrobatics. He débuted as a hula-hoop artist, but at Latina Bence is presenting an atmospheric ‘aerial tissue - hoop’ number called ‘Jekyll and Hyde’. Inspired by the famous novel, Bence portrays the contrast between good and evil in circus mode. The accompanying music is ‘Ange et Démon’ by Maxime Rodriguez, and the number was created in 2015 by Jeugeniy Zakharchenko.
